WWE Royal Rumble 2021 Preview: Full Card, Match Predictions & More

Notable Superstars Missing from the Card

Note: This is not a full list of everyone on the roster who is not scheduled for the show. It excludes jobbers, injured talent, people who wouldn’t have normally been expected to appear on the show for some fashion, those who are unable to perform due to travel restrictions and so on. It also should be noted that much of the information regarding COVID-19 pandemic regulations and precautions is not public knowledge, so there’s no telling if anyone on this list or elsewhere is not going to be on the card due to those factors.

Note #2: Empty spots in the Royal Rumble means practically anyone on this list or elsewhere could show up. That means just because someone is down below doesn’t mean they are definitively off the card.

Every Woman Not Announced = Billie Kay, Lana, Naomi, Natalya, Nikki Cross, Reckoning, even Sonya Deville. Just assume they’re in there (though maybe not Deville). There aren’t 30 women on the main roster anyway, so WWE needs everyone who can compete to show up and more.

Raw Roster Exclusions

Angel Garza = WWE just dropped that rose gimmick for him recently and forgot about him, right? He should be at least filler for the Royal Rumble.

Bray Wyatt = No match with Randy Orton has been announced, but I expect Wyatt will either be in the Royal Rumble or at least interfere and cost The Viper his elimination.

The Rest of The Hurt Business = Bobby Lashley is the only one announced for the Royal Rumble. The others may not be necessary, but if WWE doesn’t have enough people to go around, MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Cedric Alexander definitely should participate.

Dabba-Kato = Put him in the Royal Rumble. Make him one of the big guys multiple people have to team up to eliminate like what used to happen to the other giants. We haven’t seen him for months, though, so I doubt this is happening.

Elias and Jaxson Ryker = Elias hasn’t been announced? Really? Weird. He should be in it. Ryker doesn’t have to be. He can be ringside.

Keith Lee = How is this guy not announced for the Royal Rumble?!??!?!??! What?!! He damn sure better be in it.

Riddle = I’d bank on Riddle being a guarantee for the Royal Rumble, unless they announce he’ll get his title shot against Bobby Lashley earlier in the night or something.

Ricochet = Not everyone can be in a 30-man match when you have more than 30 people to pick from, but Ricochet deserved a spot and shouldn’t have failed to get one, in my mind.

R-Truth = Just because he’s not in the match doesn’t mean he won’t show up. He’s the 24/7 champion. He also thought it was the Money in the Bank ladder match, so…

SmackDown Roster Exclusions

Apollo Crews = Failing to win the Intercontinental Championship doesn’t award you a prize of being in the Royal Rumble match, but he’s had enough going on recently that I think he should be in it. If Big E and Sami Zayn are, it would be strange if he isn’t.

Chad Gable = You know he’s good. Use him. It’s as simple as that.

The Street Profits = Maybe they aren’t the best suited for a Royal Rumble entry, as they take up 2 spots that could be given to other people. But if Dolph Ziggler’s in the match and he’s a tag team champion, you can make the case they should be in it, too. For that matter, Robert Roode’s not announced. But that’s not surprising, given how little they seem to care about him, which is a shame. Although, you can also make the argument Ziggler’s the only former world champion of that bunch and takes priority.

Murphy = As good as he can be, I’m okay with him sitting this out. His story has been entirely dropped for weeks. Thankfully. I couldn’t care less if we have Murphy fighting Rollins again in this or anything that calls back to that.

Lars Sullivan = Where oh where has this guy gone again? You know what? I’m okay with him not being involved. Pass.
