AEW Full Gear 2023

AEW Full Gear 2023

Date:
November 18, 2023
Location:
Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California

Highlights:

  • Because of an injury sustained on Zero Hour, MJF was driven to the hospital. The injured Adam Cole agreed to step up to defend the AEW World Championship. In the main event, just as the introductions were being made, MJF returned in an ambulance to enter the match. Despite working with an injury, he was able to retain the AEW World Championship.
  • The Young Bucks lost their tag team title shot to The Golden Jets. In the aftermath, they acted out like spoiled children before going on hiatus from television.
  • The Texas Death Match between Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page was bloody, intense, and highly acclaimed by fans and critics.
  • Kris Statlander was not involved in the finish of her TBS Championship defense. Julia Hart stole the pin after Statlander hit her finisher on Skye Blue.
  • Ricky Starks & Big Bill picked up their biggest win to date in a ladder match with three other capable tag teams.
  • “Timeless” Toni Storm was shocked to win the AEW Women’s Championship for the third time (first time with this gimmick).
  • Orange Cassidy arguably picked up the biggest win of his career to date, by retaining the International Championship against Jon Moxley.
  • MJF finally accepted Samoa Joe’s help to defend the ROH World Tag Team Championship against The Gunns, although it comes at the price of having to give Joe an AEW World title shot down the road.
