Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

Impact Wrestling Slammiversary 2020

Date:
July 18, 2020
Location:
Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee

Highlights:

  • After Tessa Blanchard vacated the Impact World Championship, a five-way match was originally scheduled. Michael Elgin was released, therefore Impact announced a mystery opponent. Rich Swann returned, but Eric Young also returned and made it a five-way again. Eddie Edwards won the elimination match to claim the vacant championship.
  • Eric Young is likely to start a feud with Rich Swann after brutally assaulting his leg (he just returned from 9+ months off and two surgeries) following his elimination.
  • After the main event, The Good Brothers Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows helped Eddie Edwards to fend off Ace Austin & Madman Fulton
  • To close the show, Ethan Carter III revealed himself to be the man under the hood in the hype videos. He did not say a word.
  • Heath (Slater) Miller made his debut. Rohit Raju entered the ring and expressed his frustration over guys coming in and not earning their spots. Raju attacked him, but Heath fought him off. Afterwards, Heath & Rhino had a reunion backstage, but Heath was told to leave by Scott D’Amore as he has not signed a contract yet.
  • In the Knockouts title match, Jordynne Grace submitted by telling the referee she quits, because Purrazzo had a double armbar submission on and she couldn’t physically tap out.
  • Understandably, communication issues cost Sami Callihan & Ken Shamrock their match against The North. The Motor City Machine Guns announced they would face The North for the tag team titles this Tuesday on Impact.
  • In the Knockouts Gauntlet For The Gold, Johnny Bravo entered the match twice. Once dressed up as Taya Valkyrie, and again as Rosemary. The actual Valkyrie eliminated Rosemary by accident? It wasn’t confirmed. Kylie Rae won the match by last eliminating Valkyrie.
  • Without any help from Johnny Swinger, Chris Bey claimed his first X-Division Championship with a clean win over Willie Mack.
  • Moose proved he is still the undisputed TNA World Champion with a win over Tommy Dreamer in a match with Old School Rules; in other words there were no rules.
