AEW Didn’t Have Much Time To Prepare Anarchy In The Arena Match At Double Or Nothing

The Blackpool Combat Club defeated The Elite in the Anarchy in the Arena main event matchup at AEW Double Or Nothing 2023 this past weekend.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that AEW had less preparation time for this year’s Anarchy In The Arena match compared to last year.

Neither the wrestlers involved nor the production crew had as much time as last year due to the T-Mobile Arena’s stacked schedule. The Las Vegas Golden Knights had a playoff game the night before AEW Double Or Nothing 2023.

This caused a delay in moving in the production, especially compared to a normal event. At the 2022 Anarchy In The Arena match, the talent arrived the night before to explore the arena for ideas. However, that didn’t happen this year.

Moreover, the T-Mobile Arena gave AEW limitations for the match, with many ideas discarded due to what happened the previous year.

The jaw-dropping exploding superkick spot was Matt Jackson’s idea. Jackson came up with the idea a month ago in an effort to perform something that hadn’t been done in the past.

In fact, Jackson actually had to obtain a Nevada State Fire Performers license to execute the spot, something that acts in Las Vegas typically have to acquire if fire is involved.
