AEW Dynamite 4/29/20 Results

We start with Darby Allin and Cody talking about the TNT Championship. Allin calls Cody a corporate sheep and that he himself is relentless. Cody says that Darby is the future of AEW, but questions whether or not he is championship material. He also says he knows for a fact that he is, even though he can’t compete for the AEW World Championship.

Cody vs. Darby Allin – AEW TNT Championship Tournament Semifinals

During the match, Cody accidentally sent Darby into Brandi Rhodes and is escorted to the back. Cody goes for a Coffin Drop, but Allin gets the knees up. Afterwards, Allin attempts a Coffin Drop of his own and he hits it, but Cody takes his momentum and is able to pin him for the victory.

Winner: Cody

We get a message from Scorpio Sky, and he talks about his teammates being established and not wanting to be just the “third guy”. He says Christopher Daniels and Kazarian has played a huge part in his professional career, and reflects on his AEW World Title match against Chris Jericho. He says he felt right at home and where he was supposed to be. He doesn’t want to be good, or great, but he wants to be a f*cking legend.

MJF provides an injury update. He says he rehabbed his injury and saw his nail doctor. He states he’s never seen a recovery such as his and now he has the strongest nail in the world. He’s happy to be back on Dynamite and has been working to get back into TV shape, but then the unthinkable happened. He chokes up and says he injured his neck. A normal man would have bled out and died, but he’s a warrior. It hurts because he was looking forward to hopping on a German plane and wrestle in front of 6-7 of his peers. He’s the only hope AEW has left and he’ll be back.

Musa vs. Wardlow

Wardlow wins easily with an Airplane Spin slam.

Winner: Wardlow

We get another episode of The Bubbly Bunch. There’s a heated debate over who won last week’s Flim Flam challenge between Jericho and Sammy. Chris implores The Inner Circle to keep sharp during these times and suggest to compete with each other. He recommends a Manitoba Melee. There’s a video sequence of everyone hitting each other with cell phone camera cuts. It ends with Vicky Guerrerro.

Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc vs. Best Friends – No Disqualification

Best Friends win when Chuck Taylor hits a running pildriver on Havoc onto a stack of chairs.

Winners: Best Friends

We go behind the scenes with Britt Baker and her makeup artist, Reba. Britt pulls Reba aside and tells her to refer to her as Dr. Britt Baker whenever she addresses her. Reba does just that and also says that it’s a pleasure to do her makeup. Baker says she got asked for more tips on how to be a role model. She says not everyone can be a role model, like people who wear glasses. Don’t act smart if you’re not. Also, if you’re fat, you need to suck in your gut when taking photos. Use filters and photoshop when possible. Finally, if you don’t have good-looking teeth, don’t smile and draw unnecessary attention to it.

Baker says some people were simply born to show others what not to do, and that can also be considered being a role model.

Shawn Spears vs. Baron Black

Spears wins with a modified Sharpshooter.

Winner: Shawn Spears

Brodie Lee vs. Marko Stunt

Lee wins easily with a sit-out powerbomb.

Winner: Brodie Lee

Moxley reflects on his world title win 8 weeks ago and talks about the tough times that have happened since then, but he thanks the fans for staying at home. He reflects on things to be thankful for, such as his wife, steel chairs and that AEW is live and he still has a job to do. He’s going to listen to some Metallica, head east, and be on AEW next week. He’s preparing for the target on his back at Double or Nothing, but when you step up to the world champion, you do so at your own risk. He tells us to stay healthy, support our local businesses by ordering takeout and don’t forget to call your grandmother.

Next week, MJF returns, Jon Moxley faces Frankie Kazarian and Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara will take on Matt Hardy and Kenny Omega in a tag team match.

Dustin Rhodes vs. Lance Archer – AEW TNT Championship Tournament Semifinals Match

Archer beats up on Dustin a great deal and Cody comes out asking if he wants him to throw the towel for him. Dustin refuses and takes the towel from him, but Archer continues the assault and slams his head into the mat a few more times before pinning him for the victory. It’s Cody vs. Archer for the TNT Championship.

Winner: Lance Archer
