Backstage News On Jim Johnston’s WWE Release

We’ve previously noted that longtime WWE music composer Jim Johnston has silently been released from the company. After 32 years with WWE the company decided not to resign Johnston after his contract expired, as they’ve been relying on CFO$ to produce the majority of their star’s themes since 2012.

Per a report from Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, many within the company were not surprised by the release of Johnston and were expecting him to depart from WWE after his contract expired. Johnston wanted to stay with WWE but his contract was way too high for the company to retain.

Meltzer noted “it’s the end of an era, but the era kinda ended years ago.” Johnson has created themes for legends such as The Undertaker, D-Generation X, The Rock and so many more.
