Cody Rhodes Says Winning The World Heavyweight Championship Will Not ‘Finish The Story’

During the post-Money In The Bank 2023 media scrum, Cody Rhodes, who defeated Dominik Mysterio earlier in the night, was asked about the World Heavyweight Championship, and if winning the title would mean ‘finishing the story.’

Rhodes acknowledged that winning the World Heavyweight Championship would be outstanding, and heaped praise on Seth Rollins’ efforts. However, he added that ‘finishing his story’ has always been about the WWE Championship, the title that his father, ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes, could never get. Cody said,

“No. Winning the World Heavyweight Championship would be outstanding. It would be amazing. It is the title on the flagship show, Monday Night RAW. It absolutely matters and is important and what Seth is doing with it is a special thing and you’re going to see that the title will be far more in five minutes and then ten minutes. It gains equity every second. But finishing the story has always been about winning the title my dad didn’t get.”

Later in the night, Ariel Helwani caught up with Cody Rhodes for a short chat, where he shared a heartwarming gesture by Seth Rollins on his birthday, the day prior.
