Daniel Cormier On Possibly Wrestling For WWE

With UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier nearing the end of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career, “DC” is ready to move on to the next chapter of his career. That chapter could very well include WWE. FOX reportedly would like to retain Cormier, who currently works on the network’s “UFC Tonight” program, once the UFC departs to ESPN.

They’d like him to serve as a commentator on SmackDown Live when it begins airing on FOX, as they believe Cormier would give it more of a sporty feel. Cormier had a commentary tryout scheduled with WWE, but had to postpone it due to his fight this past weekend in New York. Speaking to “Busted Open” radio recently, Cormier was asked about possibly working with WWE.

During the conversation, Cormier was asked if he’d consider actually wrestling for WWE in the ring. Here’s what he had to say:

“I will be 40 years old come March of 2019. [In response to Undertaker and Triple H being over 40 and wrestling] Again, they did this when they were younger, I don’t know the game, or take bumps and learned to do all of that.

“Am I saying that it is out of the realm of possibilities to do a one-off here and there? I would be into it, but I’d be more of a protector of the announce table going forward,” said Cormier.

“I think people misunderstand how tough it is to do the job. They misunderstand the amount of damage your bodies take on a day-to-day basis.

“They see you on Mondays or Sundays once a month, but they don’t see the Tuesday house shows, the Thursday house show or Saturday house show, the travel. I don’t think people understand the true toughness of a WWE superstar.”
