Eric Bischoff Claims Christian Cage Never Moved The Needle For TNA Wrestling

Christian Cage was with TNA/Impact Wrestling for years, but never ‘moved the needle’ according to Eric Bischoff.

Just days after his WWE departure in 2005, Cage debuted for TNA Wrestling where he would become a multi-time World Champion.

Cage returned to WWE in 2009 and would become World Heavyweight Champion in 2011.

Speaking on the 83 Weeks Podcast, Bischoff spoke about Cage’s time in TNA Wrestling, and believes he had little influence over the show’s viewership. He said,

“Another WWE name that didn’t move the needle in TNA. Great talent, no question about it absolutely. Didn’t matter, didn’t move the needle. Because there was no strategy.”

Despite returning to WWE in 2009, Cage made an appearance for TNA in 2012, in return for TNA allowing Ric Flair to appear for WWE at that year’s Hall of Fame.

Cage would join AEW in 2021, and the company’s relationship with Impact Wrestling would allow Cage to win the Impact World title last year.
