As we reported yesterday here on eWn, Vince McMahon made the call to change Matt Riddle’s name to just “Riddle.” As noted, Riddle is said to be supportive of the idea. Vince was reportedly “fired up” and “complimentary” following the Riddle vs. Sheamus match from last week’s SmackDown broadcast.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, another reason WWE dropped his first name is because the company doesn’t want to have people Google “Matt Riddle” and have the lawsuit against him and WWE pop up. Candy Cartwright is currently suing WWE and Riddle over an alleged sexual assault.
