Frankie Kazarian Reflects On His Experiences With The Briscoes

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Frankie Kazarian opened up on his experiences with The Briscoes. Kazarian reflected on the untimely passing of Jay Briscoe, his experiences with Jay and Mark, and more.

You can check out some of the highlights from the interview below:

On sharing the ring with The Briscoes: “Every match I had with those guys was if not good, great. And it wasn’t because of me, it was because of those guys… The way they evolved and how much success they had in… all of that is trumped by the fact that they were such good human beings. Such good-natured, lovely human beings.”

On his bond with The Briscoes: “Jay was such a special guy. One of my favorite people to walk into a locker room and see. I was friends with both those guys outside the locker room…He has such an… just an intensity factor about him and they loved this business… I had so many special matches with those guys. When I first got to Ring of Honor, the first match Chris Daniels and I had against them… I had so many matches against them, and the Young Bucks.”

On how Jay Briscoe’s untimely passing affected him: “I can only echo what the world is saying but I mean, when I found out, I was shocked. I was sick to my stomach, I was numb, I couldn’t sleep for a couple of days. It still doesn’t feel real to me, you know, it’s sinking in. You know, we have these tragedies in wrestling all the time and we all deal with loss, we all go through loss a lot. But, this one hit me so hard, talk about tragedy it clicks all the boxes. I mean, young, top of his game, a family man. It’s just everything about it just makes me ill and yeah, I’m still dealing with it. I haven’t really processed it.”

On the kind of person Jay Briscoe was: “You know, all I can say is, I hope the world knows what type of man Jay was, the type of family man he was. You know, I can picture him rolling around in the ring with my son when we have shows that were close to California and he would be there, goofing off, acting like a kid,”

On how he will never be able to share the ring with Jay Briscoe again: “I won’t get to see him again and I won’t get to wrestle him again because there’s always that thing of like, I’ll see you when I see you. Eventually, we all end up back together. But I’ll never wrestle him again. That really sucks, that hurts. When I think about it that way, that’s the closest thing to understanding the reality of the situation. It’s not when I say I’ll never see him again… It’s when I really say I’ll never get in the ring with him again.”

On a funny incident involving The Briscoes and AJ Styles: “Driving into Canada was me, and The Briscoes, and AJ Styles. And they took one look at the car and were like, ‘what are you guys doing here?’ and, ‘we’re here to wrestle,’ said ‘pull over.’ Just taking one look at us, they knew we were up to no good. but obviously, we got through and we were all laughing about it.”
