Freddie Prinze Jr. Wants To See WWE Bring Back Cyber Sunday Event

Could WWE bring back its fan-interactive ‘Cyber Sunday’ pay-per-view event? Freddie Prinze Jr. certainly hopes so.

The event originally ran as Taboo Tuesday in 2004 and 2005 but was changed to Cyber Sunday from 2006 to 2008.

On his Wrestling with Freddie podcast, the actor/ex-WWE writer spoke about the promotion bringing the event back.

“Cyber Sunday was so sick to me because the fans got to pick who the guy in the ring, or the girl in the ring in this case, nowadays, was going to wrestle. And you were given three options, and the fans would vote.”

Prinze added that despite some fans believing that the votes were rigged, every vote mattered at Cyber Sunday events.

“Your vote was legit. It was not a work. I’ve asked a million people about this in the company… all the wrestlers would have to work out at least a beginning and end to what [their] match would be, and these wrestlers legit would have to do that.”

Last year, it was reported that WWE is expected to scrap some stipulation events, with the annual Hell in a Cell Premium Live Event being described as “completely dead.”
