Hideo Itami Released from WWE

WWE.com just posted the following:

WWE has come to terms on the release of Kenta Kobayashi (Hideo Itami).

ORIGINAL: There were some initial reports going around by PWInsider and Fightful indicating that WWE 205 Live star Hideo Itami has requested and been granted his release from the company. There has been a lot of speculation going around regarding his status with the company, as he took the pinfall defeat in the Cruiserweight Fatal Four-Way Title match at the Royal Rumble this past weekend.

The following day, Itami changed his Twitter name to, KENTA, which is the name he used before joining WWE. Itami worked yesterday’s taping of 205 Live, losing a match to Akira Tozawa. Following the bout, Itami Tweeted out “Thank you”:

Now, PWInsider is reporting that Itami has yet to receive his release, but is expected to soon. When he does, he’ll be subject to a 90-day non-compete clause. The report also suggested Itami is expected to return home to Japan. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more…
