Tonight on SmackDown Live, as Jinder Mahal demanded to find out who he would be defending his WWE Championship against at SummerSlam. John Cena interrupted and declared himself #1 contender. The match appeared to be set for the biggest party of the summer until, SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan came out to announce some huge news.
Bryan stated that instead of Cena just being put into the WWE Championship match against Mahal at SummerSlam, he’d have to earn it, in the form of a #1 contenders match next week on SmackDown Live, versus Shinsuke Nakamura.
