Impact Wrestling Results For March 8th, 2016: Kurt Angle vs. Lashley

Dixie Carter was in the ring to get Impact Wrestling started. The ring was surrounded by TNA talent and officials. She welcomed Kurt Angle to the ring. Angle made his entrance. Dixie said no one wanted to see the day where Angle would leave the company. She said she’ll never forget what he did when he jumped ship from WWE to TNA in 2006. They hugged.

Drew Galloway got in the ring and said he came to Impact Wrestling to face the best wrestler of all time. He claimed being in the ring with Angle is the wrestling master class. He thanked Angle and the two hugged. Angle said he was overwhelmed. He said he came to TNA because he needed to find himself. He thanked the TNA roster and put them over as the best in the business.

Lashley made his way to the ring. He thanked Angle for the amazing experience being in the ring with him. He then claimed Angle isn’t ready to wrestle him tonight, and he could tell by looking in his eyes.

King of the Mountain Title Match: Eric Young © vs. Bram vs. Damo vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Will Ospreay

Damo had Bram in a fireman’s carry position. EY tried to help, but Damo caught him and launched both men over his head. Havoc climbed up the penalty box and dove on Bram and Damo. Ospreay crucifix pinned Havoc to become eligible. EY landed a Piledriver to Havoc on the steps to become eligible following a pinfall. Bram also became eligible by pinning Damo via Brighter Side of Suffering.

Bram took the title and stared down EY. The two traded punches and Bram connected with a spinning wheel kick. EY knocked Bram off the ladder. He tried to hang the belt, but Ospreay landed a springboard forearm. EY landed a flying neckbreaker to send Ospreay crashing to the mat from the ladder. EY hung the title to remain the champion.

Winner and still TNA King of the Mountain Champion: Eric Young

It was revealed that EY will face a returning Jeff Hardy next week. A flashback of Angle’s match with Samoa Joe from Genesis 2006 aired.

Maria thanked Dixie for bringing her and Mike Bennett to TNA. She asked Dixie to listen to what Bennett has to say in the ring. Dixie questioned what Bennett would be asking. Maria said she’ll find out. She said she believes she can make a difference in the Knockouts division. Dixie said she prefers action over words.

Bennett and Maria were in the ring. Maria suggested Bennett tell the world what the miracle is tonight. Bennett claimed TNA needs him now more than ever. With Angle on his way out, Bennett claimed it was time for him to receive his shot at the TNA heavyweight title. He requested Dixie come out to make this miracle happen.

Galloway hit the ring instead and said Bennett was running his mouth like a “little bitch.” Galloway looked over to Maria after saying, “speaking of which.” Bennett claimed Galloway never earned his title shot and instead has a charity briefcase. He told him to get Dixie out here to make the miracle happen. Instead, Galloway clocked Bennett and set up for the Claymore. Bennett escaped complaining about what had transpired.

Angle’s King of the Mountain win at Slammiversary 2007 was shown.

The Wolves and Angle sat down backstage. They thanked Angle for all he has done. Angle said both men are incredible wrestlers and he joked about Davey Richards using his Ankle Lock. He then said Davey deserves to use it. Angle wished the team luck in their title match against Beer Money.

TNA Knockouts Title Match: Gail Kim © vs. Jade

The champion put the boots to the challenger early. Kim connected with a dropkick and followed it up with some forearms. Momentum appeared to shift to Jade when she landed a gutbuster. Kim recovered and locked in a figure four using the ring post as leverage.

Jade locked in a modified cross face, but Kim got out. The challenger hit a gutwrench suplex for a two-count. Kim went for a crossbody, but Jade rolled through. Kim rolled her over for the three-count.

Winner and still TNA Knockouts Champion: Gail Kim

A video played highlighting EC3’s revenge on Rockstar Spud last week. It’ll be EC3 vs. Matt Hardy next week for the heavyweight championship. They cut to Matt complaining about having to defend his belt against EC3 again.

TNA Tag Team Title Match: The Wolves © vs. Beer Money

Davey and James Storm got the match underway. The two exchanged wristlocks with Davey tagging in Eddie Edwards, who got popped with a forearm. Roode was tagged in and applied a headlock on Davey. A blind tag was made by Edwards and The Wolves double teamed Roode.

Storm was eventually tagged back in and was on the receiving end of an Ankle Lock from Davey. Roode broke the submission up. Storm connected with a top rope hurricanrana and Roode followed it up with a splash. Storm went for a pin, but it was broken up.

Davey blasted Storm with an enziguri. Davey dove off the top into Closing Time. Davey held onto his knee in pain as he landed awkwardly. Beer Money eventually hit Edwards with DWI to become the new TNA tag team champions.

Davey was helped to the back after the match.

After a video package showcasing Angle’s Hall of Fame induction aired, Lashley approached Galloway backstage. Lashley told Galloway he wasn’t ready to be TNA’s main guy.

TNA showed some video clips of fans showing their appreciation for Angle. Afterwards, Bennett ran into Angle backstage. He said Angle deserves what’s coming to him tonight and criticized him for missing out on a chance to face a future Hall of Famer. He said if Angle has an itch, he’ll be waiting. Angle told Bennett to pray he never comes back because if he does, it’ll get “damn real.”

Grado went out to the ring and grabbed a microphone from Jeremy Borash. He claimed to have a friend in the production truck that has video proof that he was screwed out of a title shot with his briefcase and fired as a result. Eli Drake and Jessie Godderz came out before the video played. Drake called Grado pathetic. The two beat down Grado before Mahabali Shera made the save. Grado hit a Cutter on Drake and made off with his briefcase.

One last video aired thanking Angle, and it featured TNA agents such as Al Snow.

Singles Match: Kurt Angle vs. Lashley

Angle achieved an arm drag early in the match and applied a headlock. Angle ducked under a clothesline and hit a German suplex. Lashley charged at him, but took another German Suplex. Lashley fought off another German suplex with elbows and landed a running power slam. He went for a Spear, but was dropped by the Angle slam for a two-count.

The Ankle Lock was synched up, but Lashley got out of it. Angle went for it again, but this time, he was pushed off. Angle ran towards his opponent but ate a spine buster. Lashley connected with the Spear for a two-count. A second Spear couldn’t put Angle away.

Lashley went for the third Spear but ran into the ring post. Angle performed the Ankle Lock yet again. Lashley once again got out and hit a third Spear for the victory.

Winner: Lashley

After the match, the two embraced when suddenly Lashley leveled Angle with a punch and then Speared him. Galloway ran out and scolded Lashley for his actions. He received a Spear for his troubles. Eddie Edwards ran down and received a Spear as well. EC3 made his way out and stared down Lashley, who left the ring smiling.
