Variety is reporting that former WWE Champion John Cena is currently in talks to join the Suicide Squad sequel. If he gets the role then he would join Idris Elba and Margot Robbie in Warner Bros.’ follow-up to the 2016 Suicide Squad movie.
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on his character but Robbie will reprise her role as Harley Quinn. Jai Courtney will be returning as Captain Boomerang. Cena is being represented by ICM Partners in Hollywood.
James Gunn will write and direct the sequel. The film is expected to go into production this fall with the scheduled release date on August 6, 2021.
