Lio Rush Reveals Why His AEW Run Was So Brief

Lio Rush signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2021, but was with the promotion for less than a year. Rush recently discussed what went awry during his time there in an interview with K&S Wrestlefest.

Rush first appeared for AEW in May 2021 at Double Or Nothing. “The Bad Child” showed up as the Joker in the Casino Ladder Match. He would officially sign with Tony Khan’s promotion in September, but became a free agent on February 14, 2022 when his contract expired.

Of his time with All Elite Wrestling, Rush said: I feel like AEW clearly had a plan for me. I was presented a certain way. They had the vignettes and everything. So they knew what to do with me in terms of a plan they had. Was it what I saw for myself in the company? Probably not. I just came from being a manager on TV. Probably the last thing I would want to do is transition over and do a similar role.”
