Michael Elgin Was Reportedly Involved In Gym Incident That Led To His Arrest

It appears there’s more to the Michael Elgin situation than what was initially reported.

As noted, NOAH star Michael Elgin was arrested in Japan over alleged theft. Elgin was scheduled to compete on the July 10th Pro NOAH Wrestling event in Shizuoka but was pulled from the card.

The star denied the reports on July 17th on his social media and claimed that he wasn’t either banned or deported from the country. More information has come that adds a bit of a wrinkle to the story.

According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Elgin was involved in a gym incident that led to him being questioned by the authorities. Meltzer stated that while he can’t 100% confirm it did not involve Elgin allegedly stealing protein powder in the country, he’s fairly certain that’s not the case. Melzer also stated that the star was detained by police, which led to him missing the NOAH event on July 10th.

This isn’t the first controversial news story involving Elgin in the last few years. The star was fired by Impact Wrestling in 2020 during the “#SpeakingOut” movement due to sexual assault allegations made against him. Meltzer also noted that whatever happened at the gym is “being kept quiet.” As of now, it seems fans may not know what’s truly going on with Elgin for quite some time.
