Recently, a few Lucha Underground performers had banned together to form a class-action lawsuit against the organization. El Hijo del Fantasma, Ivelisse, Joey Ryan and Kobra Moon were all let out of their contracts after the lawsuit concluded.
According to Lucha Central, it seems the promotion could be heading back to court soon. Several LU talent such as Matanza Cueto (ROH star Jeff Cobb), Famous B and XO Lishus (AEW’s Sonny Kiss) have all sought legal representation in order to get their releases.
Lucha Central claims that despite Jeff Cobb signing a contract with Ring Of Honor, his previous employer (Lucha Underground) has tried to block him from working there because they insist he’s still under contract.
Willie Mack could soon be seeking representation as well. It is suggested the reason for his NWA National title loss over the weekend was due to his contract status with Lucha Underground being in question.
In my opinion Lucha Underground should just release all of the talent under contract. With no hope for a new season going forward it is only logical.
