Report – WWE had Big Plans for Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, and The Young Bucks

As almost all of you know by now, Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega have officially started their own wrestling company (AEW). This ends months of speculation that the four men would be debuting/returning to WWE or wind up re-signing with Ring of Honor (ROH) or New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

For what it’s worth, Kenny Omega was reportedly set to receive a “fantastic offer from WWE” before he agreed to join AEW instead. The same goes for The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes regarding WWE debuts/return offers. According to reports, WWE had big plans in place for The Elite if the group would have signed with the company. There were plans involving the entire group at WrestleMania 35. It should also be noted that The Young Bucks’ contract included a clause that would let them leave WWE if they didn’t like their direction within three months into their contracts.

Dave Meltzer, (The Bucks’ finisher, the “Meltzer Driver”, is named after him), said the following: “Oh yeah, a storyline for WrestleMania, yeah. Major storyline for WrestleMania, invasion angle, the whole bit. Yeah. That’s all the details I know, just the obvious thing. Perhaps [WWE] would have botched it.“
