Report: WWE Spoke To ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin Over SummerSlam Match

‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin made his triumphant return to wrestling last April, but that wasn’t the only match WWE had planned for the Rattlesnake.

Austin wrestled his first match since 2003 at WrestleMania 38, defeating Kevin Owens in the main event of Night One.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is reported that WWE did contact Austin and try and convince him into working a match for SummerSlam 2022.

That match of course did not happen, and last July’s event instead saw Roman Reigns retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar in the main event.

Austin is rumored to be competing at this year’s WrestleMania 39 pay-per-view event, though a match has yet to be announced by WWE.
