Ron Simmons Receives Hall Of Fame Honors From Old High School

On Saturday night, WWE Hall of Famer Ron Simmons was inducted into the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame.

Simmons attended Warner Robins High School in Warner Robins, Georgia where he played football as a lineman and tight end. Simmons graduated and elected to attend Florida State University. At FSU, he received Consensus All-American honors in 1979 and 1980. He was drafted into the NFL to the Cleveland Browns in 1981. Simmons also had stints professionally in the Canadian Football League and the United States Football League, before starting his wrestling career in 1988.

Simmons is regarded as the first African American to hold the WCW World Heavyweight title, defeating Big Van Vader in 1992.
