The current state of the United States Championship going into WrestleMania is uncertain. Over the last week following Samoa Joe’s Championship win, it was believed that John Cena would likely be the one to challenge the Samoan Submission Machine at MetLife Stadium.
However, with Kurt angle’s retirement match official, John Cena has sent out hints that he may be meeting the Olympic gold medalist at WrestleMania.
Last night on Smackdown we were supposed to see an announced matchup where Samoa Joe would be defending the United States Championship against R-Truth. However, what ended up happening was a tag team match featuring Joe teaming with Andrade to meet Rey Mysterio and R-Truth.
The match ended with Rey Mysterio pinning Samoa Joe, Joe would later appear in a WWE digital video vowing revenge on The Master of the 619:
