Former WWE US and Intercontinental Champion, Santino Marella has officially retired from professional wrestling. After being eventually released by the WWE, Santino revealed that he had been dealing with neck injuries throughout the later stages of his career. He had semi-recent surgery to repair the damage to his neck. Although the surgery was a success, Santino decided to gamble one more time. With the wish to wrestle in front of his daughter and hometown crowd, Marella squared off against Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Mid-match, Marella re-injured his neck, but the severity of the injury is unknown. Despite this, Marella continued and finished the match. Afterwards, he cut a promo saying that he wanted to go out on his own terms and that this was it for his career.
Hopefully his neck heals and I wish Santino all the best in his future endeavors.
