As many of you saw on Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Jon Moxley announced that he’ll be facing NJPW’s Satoshi Kojima at AEW All Out on September 5. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan was always for Moxley to face Kojima.
The reason why Moxley had been cutting promos about Hiroshi Tanahashi in recent weeks was to make people think the match was going to be against him, while building something for later down the road. Moxley went to Tony Khan and asked for a program where he’d work with more than just one NJPW wrestler, which Khan agreed to. Kojima will be the first of those matches.
