Last week WWE pre-taped this week’s episodes of Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live. This was in order for Superstars to enjoy the holidays with their families this week. Last night’s pre-taped episode of SmackDown Live ended with a United States Title bout between Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev.
When it was all said and done, Rusev emerged victorious to capture this third-ever United States Championship. After the show went off-air, WWE posted some additional footage from Rusev’s celebration on their YouTube channel. Rusev made his way up the ramp and slapped some fans’ hands before turning to the camera.
Rusev, whose birthday is on Christmas Day (December 25th), said he dedicated his title victory to his mother, who spent hours giving birth to him 33 years ago. He said “Thank you momma” and gave a kiss towards the camera before retreating backstage with Lana:
Rusev then posted the following on Twitter yesterday:
“Merry Christmas Happy RusevDay and thank you for the birthday wishes. Best day ever.”
