What Were Ring Of Honor’s Plans If Tony Khan Didn’t Purchase The Company?

Ring of Honor would have been forced to run events on a “much smaller scale” had the company not been bought by Tony Khan.

On this week’s AEW Dynamite, Khan announced the purchase of the company, with reports saying he paid an estimated $30-$40 million.

Pwinsider reports that had the Khan deal not been finalized, then ROH would run shows on a “much smaller scale” than they had before.

The plan was to have a “small, select group” of talent under contract on a short-term basis to keep main eventers locked in for a certain amount of dates to headline the shows.

There were no plans to sign an entire roster as the budget had been cut due to Sinclair Broadcasting’s financial troubles.

The feeling in ROH is that the sale is “bittersweet,” as while many realize the necessity of selling to Khan to keep the company afloat, they’ll also miss how ROH operated before this week’s announcement.
