Author’s POV, Running Commentary & Thoughts:

Buy In – 10-Man Tag Team Match

  • “Orange Cassidy is okay.” is a GREAT sign.
  • Good match to whet everyone’s appetite.
  • Jungle Boy gets the win by submission as Angelico taps out.
  • The Butcher returns and joins the rest of HFO (including The Blade) in beating down Orange Cassidy until some others on the roster (some Dark Order members, Dante Martin, Varsity Blonds) come out to help.

Dan Lambert cuts a promo alongside some MMA fighters and Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, mostly to put everyone on notice.

TNT Championship Match

  • “My mom hates that I am here” is a great sign, too.
  • It makes sense this is first. It would get lost in the shuffle if it were between two more important matches.
  • This is more competitive than I thought it would be. I just assumed Miro would have won by the 6 minute mark or so, at least.
  • Referee is really broadcasting the exposed turnbuckle.
  • Okay, I’ll admit I was surprised about the turnbuckle spot being that the referee blocked Kingston from using it so Miro could hit a low blow.

Jon Moxley vs. Satoshi Kojima

  • Having never seen Kojima before, so I don’t know what to expect, but I’m hoping he’s a lot of fun.
  • Standard match so far. Nothing too much to talk about.
  • Kojima biting Moxley’s head was a bit of a surprise.
  • After the match, Minoru Suzuki came out to trade blows with Moxley and lay him out.

AEW Women’s World Championship Match

  • There’s been a few spots here that looked a little rough.
  • I liked Orange Cassidy firing up Kris Statlander to get back into the ring. Good moment.
  • Baker hits a Panama Sunrise and the crowd goes nuts.
  • Baker manages to make Statlander tap out to the Lockjaw.

Andrade was interviewed about how he had prepared for a match and reiterated the whole bit about wanting Lucha Brothers to join them.

AEW World Tag Team Championship Steel Cage Match

  • Fenix bouncing off the ropes and then the cage was cool.
  • Big boos for a low blow in front of the referee, but hey, that was still legal in the match! Smart move.
  • More Bang for Your Buck is always good to see.
  • Brandon Cutler tossed a bag into the ring. Inside is….a change of sneakers with thumbtacks on the bottom!
  • I thought the shoe with the tacks was going to be the end of this, but it keeps going, and I’m totally down for that. This has been a lot of fun.
  • Penta’s Canadian Destroyer was awesome!
  • Fenix’s splash off the top of the cage was obviously a highlight.
  • Oh wow, new champs! I didn’t see that coming.

21-Woman Casino Battle Royale

  • Clubs competitors are Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue, Emi Sakura, The Bunny and Abadon.
  • Skye Blue is out from Abadon, who then gets tossed out by The Bunny.
  • Diamonds are Anna Jay, Kiera Hogan, KiLynn King, Diamante and Nyla Rose.
  • Shida takes out Sakura.
  • Hogan is out by Rose. King gets taken out by Rose, too.
  • Rose took out Shida to a chorus of boos.
  • Hearts are Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford, Riho, Jamie Hayter and Big Swole.
  • Diamante is out by Big Swole, who’s tossed out by Hayter.
  • Spades are Tay Conti, Red Velvet, Leyla Hirsch, Jade Cargill and Rebel.
  • Rebel’s gone from Red Velvet.
  • Anna Jay took out The Bunny, then got taken out by Ford.
  • Hirsch was tossed out by Cargill.
  • Joker is Ruby Soho, as expected.
  • Hayter was awkwardly tossed out by Cargill, followed by Red Velvet.
  • Cargill was then flipped over by Nyla Rose.
  • Ford was eliminated by Conti, who was then taken out by Rose.
  • Final three are Rose, Soho and Rosa.
  • Rosa dropkicked Rose to eliminate her.
  • Rosa and Soho battle it out on the apron until Soho gets a kick, knocking Rosa down for the win.

Chris Jericho vs. MJF

  • MJF came out with a countdown and “Jericho’s last match” on the screen. Fantastic!
  • Awkward entrance for Jericho with the crowd not knowing they should start singing along to Judas.
  • MJF’s taunts are so great. Best heel in wrestling right now.
  • Ouch. MJF powerbombed on the apron. That’s a nope.
  • Wardlow came out and was intercepted by Jake Hager.
  • MJF knocks Jericho in the head with Floyd (the bat) while ref Aubrey was distracted.
  • Jericho had his leg on the ropes as Aubrey counted the pinfall for MJF!
  • Another referee came out to inform Aubrey of the foot on the ropes. The match will restart. Jericho almost scored a win with a roll-up, but it was a two-count.
  • Jericho eventually locks in the Walls of Jericho and MJF taps out for the win.

CM Punk vs. Darby Allin

  • “You’ve still got it.” – Uh…this has been super slow for a few minutes. Almost nothing has happened. Let’s wait until the match seemingly starts before we start chanting that.
  • OOOOOF! Darby Allin was tossed between the top and middle turnbuckles and flipped outside the ring. He’s consistently ignoring his body’s well-being for moments like this and making them incredibly fun to watch.
  • “Let’s go Darby / CM Punk” chants are dueling.
  • I don’t think anyone was hoping for a series of rest holds in this match.
  • GTS knocks Allin through the ropes to the outside.
  • Punk sitting up to avoid the Coffin Drop was good.
  • GTS for the win. Underwhelming.

Paul Wight vs. QT Marshall

  • Wow. I have nothing to say. Nothing really happened here.

AEW World Championship Match

  • This match has been solid, but nothing’s been going on worth standing out and talking about in my mind.
  • Spearing Omega on the outside through a table was a highlight.
  • Don Callis calls for reinforcements to help out. Gallows failed to make much of a difference, though.
  • One-Winged Angel from the top rope!!!
  • The Elite beat down Christian after the match. Jurassic Express try to help out, but the numbers aren’t in their favor.
  • Omega talks trash about nobody being on his level. The only people who could ever beat him for the title are either not here, retired or dead. That brings out…Adam Cole!
  • There’s no way he doesn’t hug them.
  • Yep! Cole superkicks Jungle Boy and hugs it out with The Elite!
  • T-Minus how many seconds until Bryan Danielson?
  • As Omega gets ready to bid everyone goodbye, the music hits for Danielson!
  • He joins up with the faces to run off The Elite to end the show!
