WWE RAW (5/6/2024)

Damian Priest opens the show with the Judgment Day. He gloats about beating Jey Uso, before mentioning the issue with what happened at Backlash. He needs everyone to know that he lost his cool, so he is sincerely sorry for his actions, and he appreciates JD McDonagh.

They share a collective hug before they get back to business. Drew McIntyre isn’t medically cleared, so Finn Balor is happy to have a bye through to the next round. Adam Pearce appears to let him know he won’t be getting a bye. Instead, he will earn it by overcoming his new opponent… Jey Uso.

#1. [King of the Ring 1st Round] Jey Uso vs. Finn Balor – Winner: Jey Uso*

*Drew McIntyre attempted to distract Jey Uso, but it backfired.

Backstage, Drew McIntyre leaves the arena after having a go at Adam Pearce for keeping him out of King of the Ring. CM Punk drives in to the parking lot just as he leaves, and asks the guys to play his music as he has something to say in the ring.

CM Punk says he drove here to have a fight with Drew McIntyre, but he has left the building. What if he waits here long enough for McIntyre to come back? He tells everyone to tweet at him right now that CM Punk is in the ring, right now. If he’s not a coward, he will turn back around and get the beating he deserves. While they wait, he asks if he can tell a story. Inside the Royal Rumble, Drew DDT’d him so hard he had to use his arm to protect him. He was heartbroken.

Punk thought Drew ruined his WrestleMania dreams. He had a good cry about it, had a good surgery, and realized Drew ruined nothing. They were only delayed. He can do everything. He is a 5-tool player, while McIntyre is just a tool. For months, he has to tune in to the show and listen to him run his mouth, and be proud he is injured. McIntyre is a hater, and all he does is talk about him. It dawned on him that Drew hates himself, and he is nothing but a choke artist. The promo ends without McIntyre returning.

Backstage, Braun Strowman reunites with Ricochet, and lets us know that he helped him last week against the Judgment Day because he can’t stand bullies.

#2. [Queen of the Ring 1st Round] Iyo Sky (w/ Damage CTRL) vs. Natalya – Winner: Iyo Sky with the Moonsault

After the match, Dakota Kai lets us know that Asuka isn’t cleared to compete, so she will stand in to face Lyra Valkyria in the first round of the Queen of the Ring tournament.

#3. [King of the Ring 1st Round] Ricochet vs. Ilja Dragunov – Winner: Ilja Dragunov

#4. [Queen of the Ring 1st Round] Zoey Stark vs. Ivy Nile – Winner: Zoey Stark

R-Truth tries to get a champion vs. champion match against Dan Hurley, but The Miz tells him they can’t face a basketball team. Adam Pearce needs a drink. Bron Breakker wants to know why he isn’t in the King of the Ring, so Pearce takes him to his office to talk about it.

#5. Bronson Reed vs. Chad GableWinner: No Contest after Sami Zayn’s interference

After they fight, Bronson Reed leaves as the last man standing.

Michael Cole has a sit-down interview with Becky Lynch in the ring. They talk about how she represents WWE, before showing what she wore to the Kentucky Derby. Cole moves it on to some of her future competitors, including Lyra Valkyria, who defeated her for the NXT Women’s Championship. They also talk about her losing at WrestleMania, which made her a better competitor. Liv Morgan interrupts the interview and asks why she isn’t talking about giving her a title shot.

She suddenly has a purpose to become the new Women’s World Champion. It is Damage CTRL’s time to interrupt. Dakota Kai says Liv did nothing to earn a title shot. Iyo already got through to the second round of Queen of the Ring, and now it is her turn. Liv wants nothing to do with Damage CTRL, so she leaves Lynch alone against them. Lyra Valkyria makes the save, and the Irish girls stand together to fend off Damage CTRL.

#6. [Queen of the Ring 1st Round] Lyra Valkyria vs. Dakota Kai (w/ Damage CTRL) – Winner: Lyra Valkyria

#7. [King of the Ring 1st Round] Gunther (w/ Ludwig Kaiser) vs. Sheamus – Winner: Gunther via submission
