My SummerSlam Prognosis: 5 Bold Predictions

Hey guys, these are my brief predictions for SummerSlam. They could and probably will change as time passes by, as there are still a few weeks until the event. Here are my current thoughts. Enjoy.

New Universal Champion

Brock Lesnar made it clear that he has no intention to resign with the company when his current contract ends; I believe it ends some time after WrestleMania. Will that have anything to do with the outcome of the upcoming fatal four way match? Who knows. Everyone seems to believe Roman Reigns will walk out as the new Universal Champion. I don’t. Call me crazy, but not only do I personally want him to win, but I think Samoa Joe actually becomes Universal Champion at SummerSlam. It sets up a Joe vs. Lesnar rematch down the road. Perhaps Survivor Series? Joe has been built like a true monster. Only thing I would’ve changed in regards to his main roster run was his loss to Lesnar at Great Balls of Fire. Joe should’ve done what Goldberg did: Come in and absolutely dominate and dethrone Brock, taking his title while he’s at it. He should’ve came in and put him to sleep. But it is what it is, oh well. In the end, I think Joe wins the title and has a rematch with Lesnar later on, as I previously stated. I foresee a Hell in a Cell match between Reigns and Strowman to further their storyline. Which leaves in the main event scene, new champion Samoa Joe and Brock Lesnar to battle for the Universal Title from there on out.

AJ Styles United States Championship Open Challenge

From the looks of things, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles will settle their differences once and for all this Tuesday on SmackDown. There has been speculation after numerous backstage arguments between the two that Owens will be facing the commissioner Shane McMahon come SummerSlam. I don’t see anything else at the moment that can happen with KO, unless the company does another controversial finish on Tuesday setting up yet another rematch between Styles and KO in Brooklyn. I suppose they could also simply have him face Jericho again, reigniting that feud, but I don’t know. Other than that, Shane McMahon sounds like the only logical opponent for Owens at the moment. In regards to AJ, barring another match with Owens, I think we’ll see the open challenge he’s been teasing for awhile now. As for who his opponent may be, I think Rusev is perfect for the job. It’s something new. Two guys who haven’t feuded yet. Two guys who I think can tell a good story together. Jericho could also work in this situation.

Bayley Wins RAW Woman’s Title, Sasha Banks Turns Heel

Let’s face it, Bayley’s character has been complete and utter garbage as of late; For the greater part of 2017. I think WWE gives her the RAW Woman’s Championship at SummerSlam and Sasha comes out to celebrate with her best friend afterwards. Jealousy then takes over, leading to the “Boss” attacking the new champion. That will change Banks’ character and hopefully Bayley gets something good out of it by feuding with her. Anything like their NXT rivalry will do. Though, we can only hope.

Asuka Debuts

Asuka has done everything in NXT. Nothing is there for her anymore. She’s beaten every name with importance. Asuka will debut at SummerSlam for the SmackDown brand. I think she retains her title at TakeOver, then interferes in the SmackDown Woman’s Championship match destroying both Naomi and Natalya, establishing utter dominance in the woman’s division. She will vacate the NXT Woman’s Championship then move on to hopefully bigger and better things. This will set up future feuds for her with the likes of Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. Charlotte vs Asuka has WrestleMania written all over it.

The Shield Reigns Supreme

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins will walk out with the RAW Tag Team Championships. This past Monday on RAW, we witnessed the current RAW Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Cesaro watching the handicap match (Rollins & Ambrose vs. The Miz & the “Miztourage”). Which led many to speculate that “The Bar” and 2/3 of The Shield will go at it at some point. It has been rumoured that the match will take place at the SummerSlam PPV and I’m almost certain it will. I think Rollins and Ambrose will prevail and ultimately hold the titles for awhile until Dean turns on Seth which would eventually lead to a big PPV match between the two.

Those are my predictions. Feel free to share yours. Goodbye.
