Early Match Predictions For WrestleMania 34

Hello, everyone. The following article consists of potential matches I’d like to witness or I feel are certain to happen at next years WrestleMania 34 Pay-Per-View, in New Orleans. Enjoy.

WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar (c).

It’s quite evident this is the match WWE is leaning heavily toward at the show of shows, next year, in New Orleans. They faced one another at WrestleMania just two short years ago at the 31st annual event, which resulted in Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract to win his very first WWE World Championship.

Rumors of Lesnar being Universal Champion leading up to WrestleMania have been floating around ever since he won it. Honestly, to an extent, I think Brock holding on to the strap for roughly an entire year actually builds credibility for him, and the title itself. Not to mention, it’s a simple and intelligent way to build Brock back up to utter dominance and provide him the momentum in which he had prior to suffering a loss to Bill Goldberg at the Survivor Series Pay-Per-View this past year.

In regards to his opponent, Roman Reigns, obviously not everyone is a fan of his, but let’s face it, WWE is not dropping their plans to make him the next “face of the franchise” anytime soon. I’ve grown to live with it. He’s going to be the only one defeating Brock Lesnar in the very near future. End of story. And to be fair, they never had a proper rematch in the first place.

The majority of viewers dislike situations where World Championships are defended on limited dates. But I for one, don’t mind it. It makes the moments it’s defended even more significant and meaningful. You can very well expect to see this match main eventing WrestleMania 34, with Roman Reigns’ music ultimately closing the show in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

WWE Championship: AJ Styles (c) vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Two of the most popular stars in professional wrestling today. This wouldn’t be the initial match involving the two though. During New Japan Pro Wrestling’s biggest event of the year, WrestleKingdom 10, they had a phenomenal match, no pun intended. It just so happens, unfortunately, a very small percentage of WWE fans have seen it. That being said, they already have history together. Rather WWE will present that to the fans on television or not is another story. In spite of that, I think WWE fans are invested in the two individuals enough to not even feel the need to know about their past chapter of their storied rivalry that took place in Japan. This match really doesn’t even have to involve the Title to attract the audience either. However, having it on the line only brings more excitement to the table.

In September 2016, AJ Styles was asked who he wanted to face in WWE and he specifically mentioned Nakamura. He said the following. “I don’t know when, or where, but it’ll happen eventually. The WWE, they’re smart, they know what they’re doing. And when that time comes, everybody will be aware of it, and they won’t wanna miss it.”

This rematch is obviously bound to happen and there would be no better way than to put it into effect on the biggest night of the year. It only makes sense.

SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs Asuka

Aside from Alexa Bliss as of late, Charlotte Flair has been the superior superstar in the women’s division. She clearly has Vince McMahon behind her, as she has been pushed over just about every other woman on the roster. She’s held multiple Championships in such a short time, broke records etc. Some of that is perhaps because she’s related to and has the endorsement of one of the greatest in the business, Ric Flair. But The Queen is great in her own right, rather she’s related to the Nature Boy or not. I do believe she’s going to go down as one of, if not, the greatest women’s professional wrestler of all time. She’s already beaten the likes of Becky Lynch, Bayley, Sasha Banks…just about everyone.

Which brings me to the Current NXT Women’s Champion, Asuka. The undefeated, Asuka, I might add. Like Charlotte Flair, Asuka pretty much dominated the women’s division down in NXT. Notable opponents she has put down already are Bayley, veteran, Mickie James, and more recently, Ember Moon. Speaking of Ember, some are of the opinion that she should be the one to finally defeat Asuka, with a passing of the torch type feel. In my opinion, Asuka should remain unbeaten while heading to the main roster. I want her to debut similar to how Shinsuke Nakamura recently did. Appear on the show, but not actually compete until a PPV. In this case, the PPV would be WrestleMania.

Charlotte Flair will no doubt be SmackDown Women’s Champion, rather it’s this year or 2018. Asuka will vacate the NXT Women’s Title, then debut on the main roster still dominant. She will come seeking for gold once again. Prior to that, Charlotte will have then beaten all the SmackDown Live women, until the night she meets Asuka.

Although Charlotte has technically lost at a PPV, no longer being the “Queen of PPV”, I think this match would still have some form of importance to it. Two woman who have overshadowed everyone else in their respective divisions, competing for the Title on the “grandest stage of them all”, take my money.

The Undertaker vs John Cena

Now I know this is probably the most unlikely of the bunch and I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority, but hear me out.

The Undertaker supposedly retired after his match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33. He left it all in the ring. Literally and figuratively. But the man didn’t confirm it himself. So, I’m left to believe that the Deadman will go to battle one more time. And there’s no one better to go out against than the 16 time World Champion himself, John Cena. I wouldn’t be surprised if Vince McMahon gave ‘Taker a call prior to ‘Mania next year. And Taker being a company man, he wouldn’t refuse. WWE would benefit greatly building towards the tagline, “The Undertaker’s final match”. And him squaring off with Cena makes it even bigger and much more intriguing. Two men that have that never say die attitude. You could only imagine if the streak was still intact, the bout would be even more exciting and appealing. Despite the streak stipulation no longer there, on paper alone, name value alone, this is a match that people would be immensely convinced to watch.

Those are my thoughts. Feel free to share yours down below in the comments.
