WWE Diva Kelly Kelly will return to the company this week after being granted time off the road in late May.
She tweeted Sunday, “On the road again. Can’t wait to see everyone at the #raw1000.”
Kelly, who had been on the road on a weekly basis since joining WWE in 2006, was reportedly granted a break to spend time with her family and boyfriend. She requested time off due to being “burnt out”. Kelly last competed on television on the May 21 RAW, losing to Beth Phoenix.
During her time off, the ATA Agency that represents Kelly Kelly was pitching her for both scripted television shows and reality shows. Word is that her high placement on the Maxim Hot 100 list opened a lot of doors for her. According to sources, once WWE heard that Kelly Kelly was looking for projects outside of the company during her time off, there was a push to get her to sign a new deal as soon as possible. The company feels that she is the most marketable Diva on the roster and they are willing to spend to lock her into a longer-term deal.
Among the WWE crew. there is a feeling of burnout now that everyone is pretty much working every TV taping. With travel, many talents are losing the 1-2 days that they used to have to mentally and physically rest before going back on the road. There is a feeling among some that the Bellas, much like Jeff Hardy years ago, might have started a trend with the women, which would be to get out and take breaks as opposed to continuing the grind of the road.
Scott Fellows, the creator of Nickelodeon’s show Big Time Rush, has contacted Kelly Kelly about appearing on the show. The show is a musical comedy about four hockey players from Minnesota who are selected to form a boy band. Fellows gave a statement on Kelly’s K2 blog reading:
It would certainly be exciting to have Barbara in one of the new episodes of the series, the boys are excited, Barbie has a very good relationship with them. She is a big fan of them. She was in some concerts, Chris Masters was in a episode and it would be exciting to have another WWE Superstar.
