Painter Of Champions Teams Up With Make-A-Wish For A Kansas City Child

KANSAS CITY, Mo., October 4, 2013 – Renowned wrestling artist and painter of champions, Rob Schamberger, is on a mission to make a Kansas City child’s dream come true. On Tuesday, October 15, Schamberger will host a wrestling art show featuring portraits of wrestling champions. All proceeds from the show’s sales will go to the Missouri chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help make a wish child’s dream a reality.

Nine-year-old David is battling a brain tumor, an abnormal growth of tissue in the brain. Brain tumors can develop at any age, according to Make-A-Wish, but are most common in children between the ages of 3 and 12. David’s dream is to go to Disneyland to meet Darth Vader and Darth Maul. And to make that happen, Schamberger has made a $5,000 fundraising goal.

Show attendees will not only have a chance to see and buy Schamberger’s renowned wrestling art—they’ll also have an opportunity to enter a raffle for a chance to win a variety of memorabilia signed by wrestlers, including several prize packages donated by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). The art show will be held before WWE’s Smackdown event at the Sprint Center.

For Schamberger, the show is a way to not only give back to a deserving charitable organization, but also reflects the philanthropic spirit of the wrestling industry.

“Helping others less fortunate than myself has always been important to me, and thanks to my art connecting with so many people around the world, I’m now able to help in a meaningful way,” he says. “The Make-A-Wish Foundation is significant to me because it’s solely about spreading joy and happiness to brave children battling life-threatening illnesses. Meeting my Wish Kid, David, and his family reinforced my resolve to continue to help others and to allow my generous fans to contribute as well. The philanthropic nature of the wrestling world surprises me every day, and I am so happy to be a part of it and to contribute to such an amazing cause.”

The show will include at least 40 of Schamberger’s Champions Collections portraits, as well as approximately 50 watercolors and his complete library of prints. The event will be held from noon to 6 p.m. on October 15 at the River Market Event Place, 140 Walnut St., Kansas City. Admission to the show is free. Raffle tickets are available at Schamberger’s website through October 14 for those unable to attend the show.
