My Five Early Favorites To Win The Royal Rumble Match

Whether or not Balor will actually return has yet to be seen, but it would make perfect sense for him to return and continue his hot streak by winning the Rumble match in his first match back. Whether it be former NXT rival Kevin Owens or a man he beat, Roman Reigns, being inserted back into the Universal Title picture would be the right way to go to for Finn Balor. Besides, WWE was pushing him to the moon before his injury, so it would only be appropriate to place him back where he was starting.

1. John Cena

John Cena is set to return after a hiatus that’s lasted since No Mercy next week, no doubt likely building to a feud that will eventually lead to him competing for the WWE Title, likely against either AJ Styles or the Undertaker. However, the Royal Rumble match, a match that he’s won on two occasions, presents another avenue to the WWE Title. Rumors over the past couple of week shave circulated around a scenario that sees John Cena winning the Rumble match, and facing the winner of AJ Styles and The Undertaker at WrestleMania. Presumably, Undertaker would take the title off of AJ Styles, and then we would have a story of Cena chasing his 16th WWE Title and Undertaker’s career on the line in a high stakes matchup.

Cena certainly doesn’t need another Rumble victory under his belt, and he doesn’t have to win the Rumble to get a WWE Title shot, as history has shown with him, but when Cena’s in the match, he has almost always been considered a favorite to win the match and despite his advanced age, nothing has changed since then. Cena has had some pretty great performances with Styles in the past year, and if he were to move on to bigger fish in the Undertaker, and finally capture that elusive 16th championship, it would be the proverbial icing on the cake for his career, though the way he looks in the ring, he could go for another decade if he wanted.

Be advised these are early picks, and these are more based on hunches that I have based on the current state of things. Who do you have winning the Rumble? Let me know! Until next time.
