— EVOLVE 49 reportedly set an attendance record for the promotion. The event was held at La Boom in Queens, New York.

— Johnny Gargano did not appear at Saturday night’s EVOLVE event in Long Island, New York due to a prior family commitment. Gargano was in action at Sunday night’s event and defeated Ethan Page in an I Quit match. The feeling backstage at Sunday night’s event was that Gargano turned a major corner in his career as a top star for EVOLVE.

— Willie Mack was late for the event due to delays with American Airlines. The situation was that Mack checked into his flight via the app, but he was not given a seat number. After arriving at the airport, TSA would not let Mack through, and he spent a great deal of time being sent back and forth from TSA to customer service. When Mack finally resolved the issue, he missed his flight. As a result, the decision was made to use Chris Dickinson since he was there to shoot an angle with the debuting Matt Riddle. By the time Mack arrived, almost everyone else in the locker room had their matches scheduled. Earl Cooter was assigned to work with Mack instead.
