NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver Preview: Match Card, Predictions & More

Notable Superstars Missing from the Card

Note: This is not a full list of everyone on the roster who is not scheduled for the show. It excludes jobbers, injured talent, people who wouldn’t have normally been expected to appear on the show for some fashion, those who are unable to perform due to travel restrictions and so on. It also should be noted that much of the information regarding COVID-19 pandemic regulations and precautions is not public knowledge, so there’s no telling if anyone on this list or elsewhere is not going to be on the card due to those factors.

The 205 Live Regulars = Ariya Daivari, Ashante “Thee” Adonis, August Grey, Bollywood Boyz, Curt Stallion, Ever-Rise, Mansoor, Tony Nese and anyone who is part of the purple brand aren’t doing anything. Since we have two cruiserweight champions fighting to determine who is the real leader of the division, I’m okay with that.

Austin Theory / Jake Atlas / Roderick Strong / Tyler Rust = Technically speaking, Roderick Strong took himself out of the Guantlet Eliminator Qualifier Battle Royal. Mayb ehe pops up in the unsanctioned match at some point. Austin Theory is in a similar, but different situation, in that he eliminated himself (but by accident) and could still show up to be ringside in Johnny Gargano’s corner on night 2. However, Jake Atlas and Tyler Rust simply lost. That’s a good enough reason to exclude them from this card, though. I’d take that over just being forgotten about, wouldn’t you?

Tian Sha’s Boa, Mei Ying and Xia Li / Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter = This feud just isn’t important enough for a spot on the card compared to the other matches. That’s not a knock on them, as I’m a big fan. It’s just a fact of the matter. They had their match on March 31st instead.

Breezango (Fandango and Tyler Breeze) / Drake Maverick and Killian Dain = Breezango and the Maverick/Dain team just aren’t in the title hunt and would have crowded the Triple Threat match. No need.

Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan = Burch’s injury screwed things up. I’m willing to bet the original plan was for these two to defend the tag titles against MSK or for it to be a Fatal 4-Way with MSK, Grizzled Young Veterans and Legado Del Fantasma. That’s a shame.

Timothy Thatcher = I’m assuming Thatcher is part of the group that is in quarantine due to the outbreak, as he hasn’t been seen since then. If he’s able to return in time, we might see him back up Ciampa against Imperium.

Velveteen Dream

= Is he still injured…is WWE keeping him away while some of the heat settles down…both, or neither? What’s up?

Others in the Women’s Division = Cora Jade, Gigi Dolin, Zoey Stark and others aren’t involved, but let’s face it, there just isn’t enough room for everyone. That’s okay. So while Toni Storm isn’t on the card or the Robert Stone Brand isn’t represented, I don’t think there would be any eye-catching matches good enough to justify putting on the card with them while bumping something else we already have announced.
