Samoa Joe put the TNT Championship on the line against Wardlow in the main event of Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash.
The hard-hitting matchup climaxed with Joe applying the Coquina Clutch and putting Mr. Mayhem to sleep, thereby retaining the prestigious TNT Title.
Following the loss, Wardlow extended his hand as a show of respect, but Joe answered with violence as the self-proclaimed King Of Television cracked his former partner with the title belt.
Joe reached out for a toolkit and grabbed a pair of scissors from beneath the ring. The reigning TNT Champion then scalped Wardlow as fans witnessed Joe chop off Wardlow’s signature man bun.
Moments later, Darby Allin’s music hit as the young wrestler made his way through the crowd and smashed his skateboard across the back of Joe.
The arena erupted with “Darby” chants, Joe retreated, and Wardlow laid in the middle of the ring to close out the show.
