Matt Hardy and Christian Cage share a legendary past. After the latest episode of AEW Dynamite it appears that their story will continue. But this time with a very large addition: a newly focused and vicious monster named Luchasaurus.
Christian Cage, with Luchasaurus by his side, was set to address the crowd in Rochester, New York but was quickly interrupted by Matt Hardy. What followed was a promo battle that blurred the lines between storyline and reality. This included several references to the recent troubles of Jeff Hardy, Cage’s recent turn on Jungle Boy, and Matt Hardy’s willingness to do anything for fame including using his family. The segment ultimately ended with Luchasaurus putting Matt Hardy through a table with a chokeslam.
Later on in the evening, Hardy replied on Twitter to the clip of him being driven through a table:
“I DESERVED THIS.
I MUST PAY MY PENANCE.”
Is this a new character direction for Hardy? Or could we see the return of a past persona? We’ll have to see how this plays out.
