Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise return to WWE on the ‘Day 1’ themed episode of Monday Night RAW and teased a potential match with his cousin, Roman Reigns.
Following his surprise return, The Rock caught up with Cody Rhodes, and photos of the friendly exchange backstage went viral on social media.
Fightful Select is reporting that the meeting took place right outside of the Gorilla position and was caught on camera by both The Rock’s team and a WWE photographer.
Several individuals heard the exchange, which was The Rock’s support for Rhodes.
The backstage feeling before The Rock’s promo was that The Great One wasn’t there to “stand in the way of anything,” and most didn’t know his “Head of the Table” line was coming.
The report further states that, “There had been word around WWE ahead of The Rock getting a board seat that WWE was trying to land him in some sort of contract or deal, but nobody expected anything to the scope of what happened on January 23.”
It is to be noted that The Rock has been a proponent and supportive of Rhodes, even when the latter was in AEW.
