As seen at the WWE WrestleMania 37 pay-per-view event from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Peacock, Sheamus beat Matt Riddle to win the United States Title.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Sheamus won the belt because Riddle was never meant to be champion in the first place. Thus, WWE got back on track with the title change.
Of course, Riddle won the title at the Elimination Chamber in a three-way in which Keith Lee, who was supposed to win the title, was pulled and replaced by John Morrison.
