As many of you know, the announced main event for Night 2 of WrestleMania is Roman Reigns vs. Edge for the Universal title. As of last week, WWE was planning to add Daniel Bryan to the match.
According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the change is expected to be made on tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown. While there are some who believe Reigns would be cheered over Edge, that’s not why the match was changed. One source noted that the issue is with age, as Edge was “looking older each week” and it was “concerning” to Vince McMahon. Another source said it was simply a case of Vince wanting to change things up.
The suggestions to change the main event were made several weeks ago and some of the original plans were described as “bad.” Nearly everyone on the creative team agreed to Bryan being added to the match, with Bryan being the clear babyface. WWE officials believe Reigns will still get some cheers, but Bryan won’t be booed.
