We have some details on the reason as to why NXT Superstars were left out of the Royal Rumble matches in 2020.
In a report by Fightful Select, former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray had been brought to Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX in hopes that she would be used for the event. However, she was never added nor considered for the Women’s Royal Rumble match.
WWE did call a majority of NXT Superstars in hopes of using them for the Royal Rumble matches, but the vast majority of the NXT roster had no idea if they would be used or not. Hopefully this is not the case this year and we will see at least a handful of NXT Superstars involved in the 2021 Royal Rumble matches.
