During a recent interview with the UK’s The Mirror website, WWE women’s tag-team champion Bayley commented on winning the titles with her real-life best friend and travel partner Sasha Banks, The Revival and more. You can check out some highlights from the interview below:
On being the inaugural holders of the new WWE Women’s tag-teameam Championships: “It’s just a mixture of being very proud and very happy. This is something we never dreamt could be possible and once we realised that this is something that can be done, we went 110% towards it, worked for it and pushed for it. We got matching gear and worked on tag moves. We made everybody know that we wanted tag titles, so now that we have it and we get to represent the company, represent women, it’s a very proud feeling. It’s amazing, I can’t believe that we’re doing this and I’m so happy.”
On the titles being the next obvious step for the women’s division: “You know it’s funny, we’ve had so many tag matches at the live events and on Raw in the past, there’s just so many tag matches that we thought it was just crazy that we didn’t have tag titles that existed. There’s so many women, so many talented women about. When we heard rumblings, even if it wasn’t true, when we heard rumblings about possible tag titles then we just went all in and we just wanted to push for it as much as possible, make it obvious that we wanted this and that the fans wanted it too. It was something just really exciting for us to try and push forward and make it come to life. Whether it was going to happen or not and to see that it’s come full circle, come to life and that people really care about it, it’s just a beautiful thing.”
On the difference between tag-team wrestling and singles wrestling: “It’s so hard. It’s so so different. It’s a whole different psychology and it’s been a struggle to learn, but it’s been very fun. Sasha and I are so lucky to have The Revival on Raw with us and we’re so lucky to be such good friends with them because they help us so much in understanding the why in so many things. They teach us the psychology of actually being a tag team – people don’t understand that. When you’re in a tag match like you have this tag partner and you make it known that you have this partner that you can work with. There’s so many little things, we’ve had hundred of tag matches, but now that we are The Boss ‘n’ Hug Connection, we are the Women’s Tag Team Champions, we have to up our game as far as these matches go. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder will sit with us and watch matches with us and show us matches that we all learn from and I can’t say enough good things about them, because they’ve helped us so much. I’m just excited to get better.”
