Christopher Daniels has not been seen on AEW TV since the May 12th episode of Dynamite when he and tag team partner Frankie Kazarian were forced to no longer wrestle as a team. In the time since his on-screen exit, Daniels has remained busy as the Head of Talent Relations. This high ranked backstage role has seen Daniels be a part of the discussions for various big decisions including those surrounding AEW’s newest show Rampage.

Speaking at the premiere of Starz upcoming show Heels, Daniels spoke to Denise Salcedo about why AEW Rampage was needed:

“We’ve got such a deep talent roster that we needed another television show”, Daniels said. “Two hours wasn’t enough to show all the talented wrestlers that AEW has under their roster. And so, being on Friday nights, it’s going to be another opportunity for people to see just how wide and how deep our talent roster is. The men, the women of AEW, they’re the best wrestlers in the world right now, and we’re riding such a high after these last few years on TNT, getting the second show has meant a lot and I hope that these people that have been fighting for television time I hope they get more and more matches in the ring.”

During the interview, Christopher Daniels would also comment on the rumors surrounding AEW’s second episode of Rampage. Titled “The First Dance”, rumors of a CM Punk debut in the company have surfaced, and Daniels had this to say:

“Well, no matter who walks down the aisle, you can understand that AEW is putting together some of the best wrestling in the world right now, and you never can tell who’s gonna show up, you never can tell. That’s all I can say.”

AEW Rampage is set to debut on TNT this Friday, August 13th.
