Expiration Dates Reappear For WWE Content On Hulu

It was reported at the end of September that the expiration dates associated with WWE content on Hulu had gone away. Now, it seems, that expiration date is back.

According to a new report from Pwinsider, most of the current WWE content looks to be expiring over the next nine to ten days. The notable exceptions here seem to be the newer episodes of SmackDown, which have aired in the last three weeks. Content older than a month now looks to be facing down that nine to ten day expiration window. This could be because SmackDown airs on FOX, while WWE’s other content airs on NBC Universal/Comcast networks.

WWE content was scheduled to be pulled entirely from Hulu back on September 25 due to their contract expiring with the streaming service. Episodes of WWE programming had been available on Hulu for the last ten years, until a change in the deal came back in 2018. Since 2018, a lot has changed for both WWE and Hulu. Hulu is now run by Disney, and Comcast is due to sell its 33% stake in the streaming platform in 2024. There have also been major changes within the WWE, with Vince McMahon now no longer in control of the company. WWE’s own streaming service has been merged into Comcast’s streaming service, Peacock. WWE Premium Live Events like SummerSlam and WrestleMania already stream on Peacock, along with classic content from the WWE library.
