Finn Balor says he has no idea what would have become of his doomed run as WWE Universal Champion.
Balor, who was called up to WWE’s main roster in July 2016, won the title at SummerSlam that year, becoming the first Universal Champion.
The next night, Balor would vacate the title due to a shoulder injury during his title match with Seth Rollins.
While speaking to Josh Martinez of the Superstar Crossover podcast, Balor was asked about what was planned for his title run.
“You know what, you’re the first person that’s ever asked me that question. I’ve absolutely no idea what the plans were. I’m very much of the mindset of day-by-day. I don’t really think too far into the future.
“I was very focused on winning the championship, not really worried about where it was gonna go or where it was going to unfold, or what the story had been projected. I feel like from that incident, I grew, you know, not only as a performer, but as a human.”
Balor has since held the NXT Championship, Intercontinental Championship and United States Championship.
