FTR Wanted The Usos To Leave WWE For AEW Back In 2019

FTR was hopeful that The Usos would one day part ways with WWE and try their hand in the tag team division of AEW.

In April 2020, FTR (then The Revival) was granted a requested release from WWE and debuted for AEW the following month.

Speaking on the FTR podcast, Dax Harwood said that in 2019, when The Usos’ contracts with WWE were expiring, he was hopeful the pair would leave and join AEW.

Harwood and Cash Wheeler had at this time, already set their sights on AEW. Dax said,

“It was exciting to us before they re-signed, thinking that maybe they would follow us to what became AEW or whatever. Because if we went to AEW, and AEW had The Young Bucks, had The Usos, and had us, that would have been the three top tag teams in the world being able to finally work together and being able to finally, without any kind of training wheels on we’d be able to go full bore, and it was an exciting time for me.”

The Usos, of course, re-signed with WWE, a decision Harwood is not upset about, saying the brothers “did what’s best for them and their families.”

Since then, Jimmy and Jey Uso have become key parts of WWE programming thanks to their roles as part of the Bloodline, and are the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions.
