Heath Slater was released from WWE back in April of 2020 but it wasn’t long before the promotion had second thoughts about letting him go.

Slater’s release ended his 14-year tenure under contract but he would make a one-off return in July to challenge 3MB alum and then-WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.

On a recent edition of the “Rewind, Recap, Relive” podcast, Slater spoke about his one-off return and how WWE was eager to have him back under contract. He said,

“What was crazy is after I left I got a phone call from TR [talent relations] and they were offering me a deal again. I told them no, of course, but it was just one of those things. They were like, ‘Yeah, man, it was a great performance. Everyone was impressed. We were wondering if you could come back.’”

Instead of returning, Slater would sign with Impact Wrestling. In October of this year, it was reported that the former Impact World Tag Champion was no longer under contract.
