There is now some clarification on how WWE’s Jeff Jarrett can participate in Ric Flair’s final match.

It was reported that WWE Senior Vice President of Live Events Jeff Jarrett would participate in Ric Flair’s supposed final match on July 31st. Jarrett will team with Jay Lethal to take on Flair and his son-in-law, Andrade El Idolo, as part of the Starrcast V event in Nashville.

Interestingly, Jarrett will also take part in another match in Nashville that weekend as he was announced to be the special referee for the match between The Usos and The Street Profits at SummerSlam. There was some confusion online regarding Jarrett’s involvement with Flair because he has a significant role in WWE, and the company doesn’t allow its talents to wrestle anywhere else. Well, it appears Jarrett is free to wrestle anywhere he so pleases.

According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Jarrett doesn’t have a WWE talent contract, enabling the Hall of Famer to participate in Flair’s final match. It was announced in May that the former Intercontinental Champion had rejoined the company after having made sporadic appearances beforehand. The Hall of Famer joined Jay Lethal to give Flair a vicious beating on the latest episode of the docuseries leading up to Flair’s final match.

SummerSlam is scheduled for the night before Starrcast V featuring Flair. It was reported that Flair’s daughter and Andrade’s wife, Charlotte, would be in attendance for his final go-around in the ring.
