Chris Jericho’s days with WWE are now long behind the Canadian wrestler, despite Kurt Angle once believing he’d be a ‘lifer‘ with the promotion.
Jericho joined AEW in January 2019 and became the company’s first World Champion later that year.
His most recent match for WWE was in April 2018 when he competed as part of the Greatest Royal Rumble.
Speaking on his podcast, Angle said he never thought he’d see Jericho wrestle outside of WWE. He said,
“I thought Chris Jericho was gonna be a WWE lifer. I never thought he’d ever leave. He left before and I think he went to Japan, but never really signed with another company, at least not since he was in WCW. He was in WWE for the longest time and I never thought he’d leave and go to another company.”
In addition to his AEW World Championship reign, Jericho captured the ROH World Championship last year for the first time in his career.
